Cloud Files™ CDN Technology

The files you choose to be public are shared out over a content distribution network with locations all over the world. The first time your content is served to a worldwide user (one in Tokyo, for example), a copy of the content will be stored in cache on the edge servers in that location.

The next time the content is requested, its pulled directly from the cached copy on the edge servers, dramatically reducing delivery time. In this way, the CDN technology integrated into Cloud Files™ gives your content world-wide presence.

Akamai web acceleration technology

Our complete storage-to-delivery solution has been developed through a partnership with Akamai, the world leader in web application acceleration and performance. Every day, Akamai handles tens of billions of Web interactions for organizations, such as Audi, NBC, Fujitsu, the U.S. Department of Defense, and NASDAQ.

Easy to use, no programming needed

It’s easy to use, just like uploading content to Cloud Files™. Simply right-click any container to make it publicly available across Akamai's CDN. A URL is then provided for use in your site or application. There’s also an open API for programmatic control.

Straightforward pricing, no hidden costs

We’ve kept pricing straightforward, with public CDN bandwidth at 22¢ USD per GB, no matter where your end users are. There are also no extra request fees for content served from the CDN endpoints and, unlike Amazon, no bandwidth charges from Cloud Files™ to the CDN endpoints.
