Hong Kong’s FunShare Offers ‘Daily Deals’ From Rackspace Cloud

Hong Kong, December 7, 2011 – Hong Kong-based consumer ‘daily deal’ website FunShare.com has outsourced its hosting needs to Rackspace, the service leader in cloud computing. With more than 400,000 subscribers, the ecommerce pioneers are now well placed for expansion with a robust Rackspace-powered IT services layer underpinning its business model to help ensure server uptime, reliable bandwidth and non-stop IT support.

FunShare.com’s CEO and founder, Herman Cheng, asserts that his company has saved over 3,500 working-hours a year by partnering with Rackspace. Currently on a dedicated hosting plan, FunShare.com is now analysing the potential to upgrade and create additional virtualised infrastructure as the company grows.

“We first approached Rackspace APAC in 2010 and we now enjoy the concrete business benefits of running a fully optimised IT hosting environment,” Cheng said. “What I’m most happy about is that I don’t have to worry about maintaining our IT infrastructure. “If there’s ever an issue, we get a quick response and the issue gets resolved,” said Cheng. “For example, we’re working with an e-mail service provider that requires us to change something on a server but our guys may not have the full experience to do that… we bounce an e-mail to Rackspace support and they say, ‘Oh, we know that, we can take care of that for you.’”

FunShare.com can now push forward with its expansion plans when the time is right without having to worry about hiring new IT staff or dealing with troublesome server snags in the middle of the night, or the need to purchase expensive bandwidth to offset spikes in demand. “Selecting a technology partner like Rackspace means I can outsource my IT concerns and focus on doing what I do best, i.e., finding good deals to offer to our consumers and growing our company through sales, marketing and distribution partnerships,” said Cheng.
